About: Amazonite is a green variety of microcline feldspar whose name is derived from the Amazon river from which green stones were obtained at one point in time even though it is doubtful that amazonite can be found in the amazon at this point in time.

It was well known in Egypt, India, and Mesopotamia and has been used for centuries in amulets and jewellery.

Today, it is almost exclusively found in granitic rocks in the Llmen Mountains of Russia, but it has also been found in the Rocky Mountains of the USA and even in Madagascar and Brazil.
