The Throat Chakra is traditionally associated with truth, communication and self-expression. Today, notice where you may be holding back your voice.
Sanskrit name: Vishuddha
Each chakra has a traditional Sanskrit name, the ancient language used in yogic and Vedic traditions where this system originated. Sanskrit names carry the original meaning and vibration of each energy centre.
Seed sound: HAM
The Throat Chakra's seed sound is HAM. Chant it aloud on a long, slow exhale, letting the vibration resonate in the throat, where this chakra's energy is centred.
Colour: Blue
Blue is the traditional colour of clear communication. Picture a soft blue light glowing at your throat during meditation to help focus your awareness on this chakra.
Body focus: Throat, neck, jaw and shoulders, so gentle neck and jaw release work especially well here.
"Body focus" refers to the physical area of the body most closely associated with that chakra, and it's often the region to bring your attention to during meditation, breathing or yoga.
Fish Pose (Matsyasana) gently opens the throat and chest. Lie on your back, place your hands under your hips, then press into your forearms and lift your chest, tilting your head back gently (or rest it on a cushion). Keep your throat relaxed and breathe slowly. Hold for a few breaths, then lower back down gently. If a backbend doesn't feel right, simply lying flat with a few slow neck stretches works just as well.
Crystals are believed to carry their own subtle energy, quietly formed over thousands of years within the earth. When you hold or wear one, you connect with something alive and ancient that can help anchor your own intention.
Choose a Throat Chakra stone like Blue Lace Agate, Sodalite or Aquamarine, or reach for our Throat Chakra Crystal Meditation Necklace, which brings a selection of tactile Throat Chakra stones together in one versatile design.
Hold your crystals, breathe slowly, meditate and set a simple intention. Then carry, wear or place them somewhere you can see them throughout your day, so they become a beautiful, constant reminder to protect and nurture that energy.
A mantra is simply a word or short phrase you repeat, out loud or silently, to help focus your mind and shift your energy.
Say your mantra slowly a few times today, especially when you catch yourself staying silent, and let the words sink in rather than just reciting them.
"I speak my truth with clarity and confidence."
You can also use your crystal necklace as you repeat this mantra, moving slowly from stone to stone, one repetition per bead, for a simple, clarifying practice.
Say one true thing today that you might normally keep to yourself, maybe a genuine opinion, a boundary, or simply how you're really feeling. Before you speak, take a slow breath and notice any urge to soften or take it back, then say it anyway, calmly and kindly. It doesn't need to be dramatic, even a small honest sentence counts. Afterwards, notice how it feels in your body to let your voice be heard rather than swallowed. This is your Throat Chakra practicing what it does best: honest, loving expression.
Read your intention in the morning, repeat it whenever you need to refocus, and let it quietly guide how you respond to whatever comes up.
"I express myself honestly and with love."
Write whatever comes to mind for a few minutes, without overthinking or editing yourself.
What have you been afraid to say lately?
When do you feel most free to speak your truth?
Today is about finding your voice and trusting that your truth deserves to be heard. Honest expression, spoken with love, is one of the most healing things you can offer yourself and others. Tomorrow, we'll move into the Third Eye Chakra and begin exploring intuition and inner vision.
In addition to this course please explore our THROAT CHAKRA COLLECTION to help you deepen your practice.
With love and truthful vibrations,
